What is GPA?
GPA, or Grade Point Average, is the credit-weighted average of the grade points you earned across your subjects. A subject worth more credits pulls the average more strongly than a small one, which is why GPA is not just the plain average of your grades.
The GPA formula
GPA = Ξ£(grade points Γ credits) Γ· Ξ£(credits). Enter the grade points and credit hours
for each subject and the calculator sums the weighted points, divides by the total credits, and shows
your GPA. It works for both the 10-point and 4-point scales.
How to use the GPA Calculator
- Add your subjects. Use the add button to create a row for each subject.
- Enter grade points. Type the grade points earned in each subject (0-10 or 0-4).
- Enter the credits. Add the credit hours or weight of each subject.
- Read your GPA. The weighted GPA updates as you type, along with total credits.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work for both 10-point and 4-point scales?
Yes. The formula is scale-independent β enter grade points on whichever scale your institution uses and the GPA is reported on the same scale.
Why are credits needed?
GPA is a weighted average. Credits are the weights, so a heavier subject affects your GPA more than a lighter one.
How do I add or remove a subject?
Use the add button to create a new row, and the remove button on any row to delete it. The GPA recalculates automatically.
Is my data saved or uploaded?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
