Health Insurance Premium Estimator

Estimate the annual premium for a family health insurance policy.

Estimate only — an indicative premium, not a quote. Actual premiums depend on the insurer and medical underwriting.

An estimate, not a quote

This tool gives a rough estimate of a health insurance premium using simple age-band rates and a city-tier factor. Real premiums depend on the insurer, medical history, plan features, room-rent limits, co-pay and pre-existing conditions, so treat this only as a ballpark — always get an actual quote before buying.

How the estimate works

For each member it applies an indicative rate per ₹1 lakh of sum insured based on the age band (under 30: ₹1,000; 30–44: ₹1,500; 45–59: ₹2,800; 60+: ₹5,000), then multiplies by a city-tier factor (Tier 1: 1.2, Tier 2: 1.0, Tier 3: 0.85) and by the number of members. Estimated annual premium = Members × (Sum insured ÷ 100000) × age-band rate × tier factor.

  2. Enter the sum insured. Type the health cover you want, for example ₹5 lakh.
  3. Choose city tier and members. Select your city tier and the number of people covered.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the exact premium I will pay?

No. It is an indicative estimate only. Actual premiums are set by the insurer based on medical underwriting, plan features and current pricing.

Why does the city tier matter?

Healthcare costs are higher in metro (Tier 1) cities, so premiums there tend to be higher. Smaller cities usually attract lower premiums, reflected by the tier factor.

Does age affect the premium a lot?

Yes. Premiums rise significantly with age as claim likelihood increases, which is why older members fall into higher rate bands.

Does this calculator store my data?

No. The estimate runs entirely in your browser; nothing you enter is sent to or stored on a server.
